Great axe for really big logs. Powerfull, well balanced, right weight for the handle length, very comfortable to work with. Two hand use only!

As a complete novice other than splitting kindling I was slightly apprehensive, but this is simply excellent. Satisfyingly large pile of logs in an hour or so. Very impressed.

Have used various splitting axes over the last few years, it might be more expensive than the rest but boy, does it work. I even use in preference to getting out the hydraulic log splitter if I am feeling energetic.

Already had the x25 which was great but this has the extra oomph when chopping hardwoods needs a good 2foot stock to chop on

It's true what all the reviews say - this axe is amazing. Have been struggling to split some large (24") seasoned rounds of ash with my old maul. With the Fiskars X27 I split in 2 hours what would have taken 20 hours with the old one. Requires a slightly different technique, but once you've got it there's no stopping this thing. A word of warning - I have since tried to split some smaller logs and the X27 feels like overkill, so unless you're splitting very large logs all the time one of Fiskars' slightly smaller axes might give you a wider range of use.

I bought this with some trepidation but my fears were soon dispelled as the axe cut cleanly through newly cut logs with hardly any sticking and an excellent splitting action. As long as it is kept sharp it will give long service
