Really happy with this purchase - saves a lot of raking. Pretty quick to put together and relatively easy to follow instructions barring one bit I didn’t pay attention to and got upside down. Oops. Easily corrected though. Collector feels pretty robust in about 30 mins use so far. Collects the majority of leaves although don’t expect it to collect every single last one, but requires very little effort and certainly far less effort than using a rake. Also leaves lovely stripes on my lawn. Doesn’t pick up sticks or fallen apples etc but I didnt expect it to. Basket fills pretty quickly in use but is easy to release and empty - simply lifts off the sweeper at the bottom and clicks off the hook on the handle. Hook seems robust enough that it won’t break after prolonged use. Only two observations - neither of which would stop me buying this again - are (1) that the basket could have been designed to be bigger if it just didnt have such a pronounced slope from back to front - if they had higher walls at the front it could hold a lot more … the low front walls limit considerably how much the basket holds before leaves start overflowing; and (2) if you sweep over areas of taller grass, expect to have to yank or cut these off the brush occasionally… when taking my sweeper over the edge of a ‘less-managed’ (ie uncut for months) area of grass, some of the long stalks wound around the brush and needed removing by hand. Overall, though, absolutely delighted and will be using this extensively once the leaves really start falling off the big trees.

Pricey, but hugely effective! I was a bit wary of spending so much on what might be described as a glorified rake, but I've been massively impressed by it. It's really well made, feels robust, was easy to put together, and - most importantly - it works like a dream! It's incredibly effective at picking up leaves, and leaves the lawn looking amazing (you can even make stripes if you want!). We have many trees overhanging our garden, and it works equally well on large and small leaves, and even copes well in wet conditions. It's so much easier than raking and picking up leaves, and it's hugely satisfying to see it clear a clean path through a garden littered with leaves. It can seem like it needs emptying too often, but that's really just because it's so efficient at gathering huge volumes of leaves! Highly recommended, if you have trees...

I should have heeded the reviews regarding all the screws that protrude due to the holes being top small. For a quality company such as Gardena ignoring the longstanding criticism is unacceptable. For this reason and because the collector is poor on our patio surface it has been returned. All credit to Tooled-up for facilitating the return, 5* for them

Unfortunately it arrived once the grass has grown a bit and with wet leaves already on the grass it does not perform very well, leaving many leaves on the grass to be collected by rake and hand. If I had it several months ago when everything was dry and and the grass very short, I am sure it would been better. Hopefully next year once the leaves start dropping mid August with very dry conditions it will be better, only problem if leaves blow straight out and not into the collection box.
