Fiskars XACT Border Spade

As a head gardener with three other gardeners to think about as well when it comes to selecting tools, I have to consider comfort of use ,longevity and price. I found this spade to be well balanced, relatively light considering its size,the long handle is a must (most shop bought are built for part time hobbits, in other words won't last, and hurts your back!). There are no protrusions where the second hand holds, such as nuts or bolts or shaft divisions with rough edges. The large handles allow the user to comfortably wear gloves. Have only recently purchased so unable to comment on how long it will last. For the money, I would need to see it last at least two to three years of hard work. The screw holding the two sections of shaft together is a let down considering the effort put into the rest of the design, its loose already so will have to 'modify'. Otherwise, its good- so far. The fiskars long handled wide headed leaf rakes are excellent by the way. Ours are used on big expanses of lawn and have lasted very well, when they wear down at the ends we heat the plastic a little and bend tines back, to go another year!
