Einhell GC-KS 2540 Electric Garden Shredder

I have a number of Einhell products both cordless and corded. The shredder appears to be the quality I would expect from this company. The pair of extra blades as well as the price made the buying decision easy. Although I have only used the shredder briefly it has performed well. However, as an experienced shredder user I have one comment on the design. The feed funnel on the top could do with being deeper and the safety comb is a bit too stiff (to start with?) making feeding things into the machine a bit difficult. Here I must say though that my experience may be somewhat unique. I have in the past used two shredders to deal with thicker stems and branches. My previous two impact shredders did not do a good job on their own. I therefore pass the thicker material through a drum shredder first. What I am feeding into the impact shredder is therefore already somewhat reduced into loose material. It is in trying to push handfulls of material into the Einhell that the need for a deeper feed funnel becomes apparent. I will have to try putting stems and branches directly into the Einhell. Overall though I'm happy with the purchase.

The delivery was very quick. The electric garden shredder looked very similar and was the same type as one I had had for over 10 years. It's performance was significantly better in that once the waste had been fed into the shredder it was far more effective at pulling the waste in. I shredded several bags mainly beech tree branches which are quite hard and the shredder continued to perform well. I hardly had to use the prodder to push the waste down. The only downside I found was the collection bag was quite a snug fit around the outlet and it was not that easy to see when the waste had reached the outlet where it would start to back up in the machine, which can cause blockage. More frequent emptying of the bag would resolve this, although I used a bigger bag from the previous machine I had. Overall very pleased with the shredder.

Great quality, one comment would be that the 40mm capability is slightly off the mark, I would suggest 30mm is more realistic

Ordered this shredder at 2.45 yesterday and it arrived at 1 today. DHL delivery and tracking was excellent. I was using it in 25 minutes and had half a bag of leylandii from a felled 40 foot tree within 20 minutes. It cut 30 mm branches with ease and just drags it right through! You need to cut off any thick twigs first if they are at right angles as they won't bend into the feeder. Thin and green twigs just gather together and slide in. Overall a smashing little machine. I have a few trees to dispose of so I will update this review later.
