Great tool, whilst it took me ages to drill the pilot hole with cobalt bits once started with the qmax it was 10 minutes and i had a nice clean hole in stainless. great, simple, product and british made too.
I am delighted with this punch, which is of high quality tool steel, precision made and only needs an allen key to operate it. I am pleased to find qmax punches are still being made after so many years; i had a 1.1/8" one in the 1960s to punch holes for radio valve bases. This was borrowed an consequently lost but was still in good condition in the 80s.
A simple and neat way of cutting a hole in sheet metal. the holes cut are very clean. if you are cutting a lot of holes i'd recommend getting an allen key with a long handle as it needs a fair amount of force to cut the hole.
The hole punch scores over the same size of hole saw in that the hole cut doesn't have a ragged edge that needs filing. It tends to be more accurate as sometimes the hole saw pilot drill drills eccentrically. I'm very pleased with it.
Good quality tool delivered quickly - thanks a lot!
I got this punch to make 20 mm holes in metal sheet for electrical cable using the standard grommets. It does the job well.
Just what was ordered and does a first class job. delivery was on time despite the postal strike.
These tools are awesome for cutting holes in sheet metal.
Really good tool. Cuts really nice clean tools but needs some effort on thicker pieces of metal. That aside - a good item for the money.
A good quality tool that is easy to use and performs well
Despite the hefty price tag this is an invaluable tool for cutting precise circular holes in sheet metal.
Cuts a pefectly clean hole in sheet metal with no burrs and is effortless to use.
This is my First time use of this hole punch. I used 2mm thick aluminum, drilled the 8mm hole then assembled the tool on the panel. I eventually found an allen key for the the hole cutter. With all of my strength I was unable to move the screw I thought the aluminum panel was to thick, so I repeated the test with 1mm thick panel. This did work and the hole was very clean, but was very tight when using the hex key. So the hole cutter is fine for thin panels.
I've had these punches before, i use them over rotary hole cutters for the cleanliness of their cut, but i've had them strip their threads prematurely before, lets hope that improves. i recommend them if you are a serious panel builder, but not for odd-jobbing, but for quality of the job, they cant be bettered.
