This is the complete kit version of the DeWalt DCMCS574 54v XR Cordless FLEXVOLT High Powered Chainsaw, supplied with a DCB547 Flexvolt battery, DCB118 battery charger, chain cover and storage case. It's the perfect choice for professionals who want everything needed to get started straight away, or for those new to the DeWalt Flexvolt platform.
Part of the powerful Flexvolt cordless platform, this 54v battery powered chainsaw delivers performance on a par with 40cc petrol machines. The energy efficient brushless motor provides longer runtimes per charge, whilst the 450mm bar tackles demanding cutting tasks with ease.
Being battery powered, it requires less maintenance than a petrol chainsaw, and features an auto-oiling system for keeping the chain lubricated automatically. The tooled chain tensioning system is built to professional specifications, ensuring the chain remains reliably tensioned during use. The optimised chain speed delivers improved torque to prevent the saw getting bogged down, whilst the chain brake stops the chain in less than one second if triggered.

Battery AH Explained
The best way to describe battery amp hour is that this is effectively the size of your fuel tank, the more amp hours your battery has then the longer the battery will last between charges. More amp hours does not increase the power of a given tool.
Battery Voltage Explained
A tool with a higher voltage than another is a bit like choosing an engine in a car, the higher voltage will generally mean higher power & performance. As with cars though a bigger engine does not always translate to better performance so it is important to compare the specifications of tools at different voltages between different manufacturers.
Chainsaws
Always make sure your oil is topped up & your chain is tensioned correctly. This will ensure your chain life is extended & more importantly is operating safely.

DeWalt Flexvolt
DeWalt 54v Flexvolt is the new DeWalt dual voltage system. A 54v Tool can only use 54v batteries, however your new DeWalt 54v Flexvolt battery is fully compatible with all DeWalt 18v Li-ion Power Tools as it is capable of stepping into 18v mode for this purpose.
So upgrading to 54v means you can still make use of your 18v power tool range. 54v batteries are currently available in:
6ah (18v mode) / 2ah (54v mode)
9ah (18v mode) / 3ah (54v mode)
12ah (18v mode) / 4ah (54v mode)
The DeWalt Flexvolt system opens the door to types of tool becoming available in cordless that would never have been considered before such as Table Saws.
