The DeWalt DCB546 is a 54V XR FLEXVOLT lithium-ion battery designed to power demanding cordless tools on site without compromising on performance or runtime. The best way to describe battery amp hour is that this is effectively the size of your fuel tank, the more amp hours your battery has then the longer the battery will last between charges. More amp hours does not increase the power of a given tool.

DeWalt 54v Flexvolt is the new DeWalt dual voltage system. A 54v Tool can only use 54v batteries, however your new DeWalt 54v Flexvolt battery is fully compatible with all DeWalt 18v Li-ion Power Tools as it is capable of stepping into 18v mode for this purpose.
So upgrading to 54v means you can still make use of your 18v power tool range. 54v batteries are currently available in:
6ah (18v mode) / 2ah (54v mode)
9ah (18v mode) / 3ah (54v mode)
12ah (18v mode) / 4ah (54v mode)
