Black and Decker GKC3630L 36v Cordless Chainsaw 300mm

Bought to replace my old mains 12inch B&D chainsaw. This battery version clearly wins as no trailing leads etc but does lose in terms of its power. The battery version does a great job lopping branches up to 10cm diameter but struggles with branches bigger than this. The build quality looks very good, with a nice oregon chain and bar and the 'no tools' chain tensioning a big plus. Battery life is reasonable (around 30min continuous use for me) and charging is quite fast but a second battery would be ideal if longer jobs are planned. So far so good and hope it matches the 30 years my old B&D chain saw lasted.

Very pleased with this product. Good, efficient cutting and light and easy to handle. A full charge can easily provide two wheelbarrow loads of small logs for a wood burning stove. We already had the Black & Decker 36V strimmer (also very good), so quite advantageous to share the two batteries. A bit plasticky, probably wouldn't stand up to professional use, but fine for domestic purposes.

Pleasantly surprised at the performance, obviously cannot be compared to a powerful petrol chainsaw, but is really convenient for any small jobs. Light to handle, just switch on and go. i got a second battery and because of the short charge time it is possible to get virtually continuous use. only reservation i have is there is no chain brake,perhaps less necessary with a cordless electric saw.

A solid bit of kit.When first used i thought this is a bit limp compared to my corded chainsaw but nevertheless it cut a full wheelbarrow of 3 inch logs on less than half a charge. chainsaws can be dangerous to use but with this one i felt very very safe and would not argue if my wife wanted to use it! at my suggestion one of my buddies bought one as well and he is still talking to me !.

Just purchased this chain saw and at the moment i am very impressed. Have been cutting 3" fence stobs and branches from a felled beech tree and have averaged around 100 cuts per charge. To early to verify reliability but first impressions are brilliant. Quiet, light ,quick battery charge time and no fumes.

I have used this for a couple of weeks and was expecting to be disappointed, but i was pleasantly surprised with the performance. I have 3 batteries and it lasts long enough for what i need - e.G a whole afternoon in the woods. I cut through a couple of 18 inch chestnut logs without a problem. You don't get the fumes or the noise which is a great bonus, and it does not seem as dangerous as a petrol chainsaw due to the lower power. I would definitely recommend for occasional or light chainsaw users, if you want more, get more batteries.
