I have only had the product a few weeks and it is not the time to give my large hedge a trim I have used it on small edges and bushes and it is a nice tool to use the blade being longer is good and the cable is a good length. So far very happy. I had my previous black and decker over ten years so wanted to replace with another black and decker.

This is a shock, but, then, it probably shouldn't have been, as I saw Made in China on the box - after it failed to do what it is supposed to do! It really is poor quality! The issues seem to be the main blade has blunt teeth, and this blade moves along an underside, which is not toothed, and this is blunt, too. I was trying to cut a basic hedge, with stems being no more than 15mm, and this useless item would only tear at theses branches, giving a poor cut. It really only just manages 3mm to 4mm twigs with a clean cut! So, what is the point of buying something with teeth up to 26mm, and claims that it can cut 25mm, with a final boast that it can, right at the end, cut one branch up to 35mm?! It can't do any of this! It has a 600 watt motor, but when it is on it sounds very underpowered, and actually is slower than an old, Flymo I have, which is now not working! I think the blades show cheapness, and I am sorry to say this is just anotther example of shoddy Chinese imports! Once upon a time Black & Decker was British, and made in Britain and used steel made here, too. This clearly is cheap steel, and the blades have the issues I have mentioned! Plus, for some reason, this has blackish, hard grease on the blades, that does not lubricate! It is just tarnished! I can even put a piece of cardboard between the blade and the under-steel, as the teeth are so flimsy! The, so called, saw at the end has teeth that are too thick, certainly not sharp, and there is no way it does anything much; I tried! Total waste of money. My advice, check that your item is NOT Chinese made, and actually has back up reviews that clearly state that it does the job! This doesn't.

I have 150 yards of hedging made up of all types, so my garden is a good test for a hedge cutter. Two Black and Decker hedge cutters have lasted me for 25 years so when my last one died I bought another B&D. This one is much lighter so easier to handle. It makes more noise and B&D no longer make a hedge cutter with a 65cm blade so reach is not as good. The saw gimmick at the end of the blade is terrible. It will cut into a branch but when the cut tightens onto the blade it just shakes the branch. The worst part about it, is that it snags when trying to sweep across a hedge. When cutting from left to right the machine is excellent. When cutting from right to left, the saw does not cut through the stems it just stops the blade from moving through the hedge. Sorry Black & Decker but this ruins what is otherwise a great product.
