Bahco 396HP Folding Lock Pruning Saw

This is proving a very handy tool. Because it locks shut i can carry it in my gardening trouser pocket without fear of injury. And being able to carry it in a pocket has been an unexpected boon - no need for a trek to the shed when tree/bush surgery is needed. It cuts both green and dead wood equally well, and because the cut is on the pull stroke, the blade cannot buckle. It has cut 2 and 3 -inch diameter branches with no problem, and could i am sure cut thicker branches. Because the saw is small, the cut can often be made when obstacles would have got in the way of the bow saw i have previously used. Does a better job than loppers. It doesnt work well on branches less than half-an-inch thick (wobble on the pull stroke) so you do need secateurs. but with secateurs and this saw i reckon i will be able to manage 90% of my pruning this year. i havent compared other makes of saw, and am sure many will be equally good. However, the fact i can carry this with me is a major bonus of this high performance saw john

Purchased for use by my wife, who does most of the technical pruning. it is very comfortable to hold and use. Seems to work well on both green and dead wood. Operated with a pull to cut which is very useful for pruning in tight spots. the folding/lock mechanism is both easy to use and seems to be quite secure in both open and closed positions.
