I'm a full time carpenter and loved my first fatmax xtreme 8m tape, which lasted for a couple of years - amazing. The mechanism was still good but a split in steel tape eventually did for it. it's not cheap, it's not lightweight, but it's a great tape if you take your measuring seriously, with easy to read numbers, and really good reach if you're working on your own. the perfect tape, if a little weighty for some. unfortunately, this latest design of the perfect tape suffers from an overly large hook (+150%)which is a flippin' nuisance in my view. it snags all too easily and 'won't let go', and makes using the tape edge-on a bit hit & miss. it's still a great tape and if you can't get on with the peasky new oversize hook, file it down ;)
