Roughneck Kindling Splitter Axe

This axe is an excellent piece of kit that fills the gap between a small hand axe and a full swing felling/splitting axe. regular hand axes are fine for making kindling out of such things as old floor boards and planking, but struggle if you want to split down already split logs to kindling size - particularly if there is a knot in the log or it is particularly close grained. Having finally destroyed my hand axe trying to do just this, i invested in the "roughneck kindling splitter axe" it's shape and weight (it is roughly twice as heavy as a good size hand axe) combine to allow it to easily (so far) split down fire logs to the smaller sizes needed for kindling. While i need to use both hands to use it with accuracy, i suspect this would not be necessary for even middling-strength users (let's face it, i am a weed :d ) it does *not* need a "full swing" to do this (indeed, you would look a bit silly full-swinging a 16" long axe!) - just a firm stroke using the weight of the head to create the impact. Most wood i have tried it on has split at the first stroke - the odd one left with the axe head buried in it has split at the second. You will be taken by surprise - so always use a chopping block!! chopping kindling is no longer the chore it used to be - an excellent purchase.
