Hozelock JET 3000 Surface Mounted Water Pump

I use this pump to draw water from a stream that runs along our property. It self-primes easily (drawing about one metre below the pump - specification claims up to 7 metres), runs quietly and produces good pressure to work a fan-style sprinkler. It pumps over 1000 litres and hour through a half inch hose and has run for a four our stretch without problem. Build quality is good and solid. An ability to vary the pump speed would be good but would obviously add to cost

Bought this pump in order to use saved rainwater in water butts. First use was to rinse the car before washing it.Worked a treat! The only issue I had was to stop the pick-up end of the supplied hose from floating to the top of the water and taking in some air. The solution was to tie a weight to the hose so that it drew in the water from close to the base of the water butt. I would recommend this product.

I needed a pump so that I could water my large garden from my water butts. This pump is easy to set up and easy to use. Prime your pump plug in switch on and off you go. It says it gives 3.5 bar of pressure and for me with water travelling 60 ft or more From my butts I still get the same flow as my house water supply. I use a heavy weight, tie wrapped to my suction hose allowing it to sink to about 4 inches from the bottom of my butts. The item arrived well packaged and in a great delivery time given the present lockdown! I only wish I had bought this years ago!

Bought this to replace an earlier version of Hozelock's garden pump which I had to give up on due to an un-replaceable failed electrical component and the fact that Hozelock provide no support for discontinued products (be aware of this when considering whether to buy this one). On the plus side, the replacement pump works as well and efficiently as the previous model, but is much easier to put together and much less fiddly to get up and running with. Hozelock seem to have addressed a number of issues with the previous model that made it very user-unfriendly to set up and keep maintained. It's easier to clean this model than the previous one and in all respects, it appears to function well. On the downside, the build quality is noticeably lower, with most of the pump body now built of plastic instead of metal. It's impossible to know if the internal parts are also of a cheaper quality. Time will tell. This pump is also slightly more noisy than my previous one which was remarkably quiet for such a powerful pump. I can hear this new pump running even when I'm 30m away and with a number of bushes, trees and a 5m incline between me and it. Despite all this and the frustration of having to replace an otherwise perfectly good pump because of a failed switch, this pump does 'what it says on the tin'. If like me, you have to transport water 30m+ up a 5m incline to water your plants, it's a life-saver especially in summer when watering all of my vegetables previously required 30 bucketfulls carried up the hill to get the job done. Whether this new design is robust enough to stand the test of time, I cannot say. But it does the job pretty much straight out of the box.
