Hacksaws are primarily designed for cutting metal though they are also ideal for sawing materials like plastic pipes and wooden dowels. A hacksaw consists of a hacksaw frame and a removable, replaceable blade which is held under tension in the frame. Hacksaw frames are commonly available in either a standard size for general purpose use or a junior size which is more suitable for precision applications.
