Garden Forks

Garden Forks Information

Garden Forks are employed for heavier lifting, digging and shovelling tasks where their large handles enable the user to apply optimum leverage (smaller forks with short handles are commonly known as hand forks). One of the primary functions of a basic garden fork is to prepare soil for planting by breaking it up, turning it over and aerating it. However, some are designed for specific applications and there are few different varieties.

Here's our quick application guide:

• Digging Forks - digging forks are fairly large garden forks which are normally used for digging up root vegetables and preparing soil. They usually have four tines.
• Border Forks - border forks are alsmost identical to digging forks, except they are more compact in size. This means they can be used in tighter spaces like borders and small flower beds, and may also be preferred by smaller gardeners for general purpose use.
• Potato Forks - potato forks typically have wider, blunter tines than digging forks and are specifically designed for lifting potatoes out of the ground without damaging them.
• Manure Forks - also known as compost forks, these are are a type of pitchfork which are designed for shovelling and transporting manure, hay, compost and similar materials.
• Rose Forks - rose forks typically have just two tines and can be used in very tight spaces. Their primary function is to aerate the soil around the roots of rose plants to reduce compaction and prevent rotting.
