Seems to be a well made product. Have now used it a few times and it does the job very well. It is fairly heavy to use for long periods but all long reach hedge trimmers are heavy.

I purchased this Black and Decker pole hedge trimmer to replace an Einhell long-reach hedge trimmer on which the motor burnt out. The Black & Decker has a longer blade at 51cm compared to the Einhell's 41cm, The Black & Decker weighs in at 4.1kg whereas the Einhell weighs 5.1kg so top marks for the Black & Decker so far ... Where the Einhell wins over the B&D is its 900w motor against 550w for the B&D, also the Einhell has a longer reach. All these extending pole hedge trimmers are quite hefty to handle after continued use. The Einhell wins again in that the motor is at the bottom whereas the B&D is up at the business end. I like Black and Decker tools which is why I chose that make this time and the PH551 is certainly well-made and easy to operate. I've only used it briefly and it certainly cuts my hedges okay, it's just that it's not as powerful as the Einhell jobbie.

Only used it twice to date. Very sturdy and hope to get years of wear out of it. Slightly heavier than expected, but manageable.

Performs satisfactorily allowing me to reach the top of a tall privet hedge. Successfully coped with woody bits up to a centimetre or so. Only negative is the weight with the motor on the end of the extended pole which makes it a bit unwieldy but no worse than other similar products. Very pleased with my purchase

Good value for money. Robustly built. I found the strap difficult to get used to and the item is heavier than I expected. Overall I would recommend the product and Tooled Up for its service and prices

Really happy with the product and the Tooled Up service as the hedge trimmer was delivered in two working days. Only slight issue was that the box was open when it was delivered but fortunately nothing was missing. However this is probably more to do with the courier than any fault of the supplier.

Good piece of kit. Does its job as well as other more expensive items. Only downside - used at full extension it is quite heavy (but then I’m an old geezer and no muscle man). Overall I’m v. happy.

I chose this over a battery powered hedge trimmer as I didn't want the burden of losing the charge and that impacting performance. I soon got the hang of this but it might be a bit heavy for some. I recommend using the shoulder strap provided. Great hedge trimmer and I believe it has a 2 year Guarantee. No need to struggle at the top of a ladder anymore!

Good blade length and cut size. Previously tried a cordless which, whilst it was lighter, was simply not up to the job. This is almost as good as my standard reach Black and Decker. Obviously a bit top heavy when fully extended but quite manageable when you factor in not having to perch on a ladder!

All good except I found it slightly under-powered and isn’t able to cut through branches more than a couple of centimetres thick.
